Jan has always been a creative person. Her creative outlets were often sewing, embroidery, baking and gardening, as a mother and a homemaker. When her mother-in-law invited her to take a tole painting in the 1970’s she loved it! In the 1990’s she went to college, and later began a career which left a little time for creative projects. In 2000 a friend introduced her to jewelry making and she became immersed in it. Since 2000 she has been making and marketing her jewelry locally. She has shown and sold her work at shows and galleries. While she is considered “self-taught,” she credits her education to the generosity of the many artists who have taken the time to share their knowledge in print and online. Jan began her jewelry career making beaded jewelry, but has since explored many other mediums, including silversmithing, metal forming, bead weaving, acid etching, and micro-macramé, and now concentrates her time on copper enameled jewelry and wall art. Her jewelry brand is “Facets.”
