Lisha is an Elyria Resident who moved here as a child from West Virginia. She never had the opportunity to study watercolor in a formal setting, but stumbled upon watercolor painting while her children were in school. In the beginning she learned from other artists, by studying watercolor instruction books from the Elyria Library. She returned the books quickly to the library, feeling she couldn’t master this difficult medium. With determination she returned to the library, borrowed more books and never looked back. She continued to put in the time needed and practiced until she became comfortable painting with “colored water”. Watercolor became a friend and necessity in her life . Years later Lisha cam full circle to teaching at the local library to where it all began.
Working in Watercolors since 1992, she has enjoyed doing portraits, landscapes and everything in between. Gardening is her second love and painting flowers is one of her enjoyable pastimes. She loves to strive for a realistic look and paints in a tight controlled manner using a very fluid medium. Lisha also dabbles in oil, pencil, chalk, torn paper art, and even crayon. Her work is in local Art shows and festivals. She has been teaching for 6 years and loves sharing her love of watercolor with others.
