Melanie is an award winning artist. She studied at both The Ohio State University and The Cleveland Institute of Art. She enjoys working in several mediums including graphite, pastel, and watercolor. Her subjects include seascapes, lighthouses, landscapes, rural scenes, vintage vehicles, historical events, flora, and wildlife.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Wildlife commissioned Melanie numerous times to create realistic depictions of wildlife and flora from the various Northwestern Ohio State Nature Preserves. Her kiosks and etching plaques are currently displayed at locations such as Old Woman’s Creek, and Sheldon’s March in Huron, Ohio; Lakeside Daisy in Marblehead, Ohio; and North Pond in Kelleys Island, Ohio.
Melanie has some themed collections of work she creates. She has multiple ongoing series depicting wildlife in prairie fields, in deep woods, and around various bodies of water.
Her newest and most popular collection features 3-D mixed media pieces that incorporate objects related to her illustration. Each piece is custom framed in this collection. She loves to add clients’ treasured momentos such as photos, ticket stubs, fishing lures, keys, woodland finds, and beach combing treasures to her work.
