The Elyria Arts Council is offering a series of 4 different Art project packets to community members. Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC has generously funded this project. The first packet was distributed in November of 2020. It is a “How to draw” packet that includes step-by-step instructions, paper, pencils, an eraser, and pencil sharpener. A limited supply of drawing packets for the under 5 year old age group, and 6 years and older are still available at The Elyria Arts Council. The second packet is Origami themed that includes instruction sheets and origami paper and is now available on a first come, first serve basis. The third packet will have a 3-D sculpture theme with instructions and supplies. The fourth packet will have an Art “Scrapbook” or “Sketchbook” theme to keep Art that you have created, including materials to assist with creating the book. “Art to Go” Packets will be distributed multiple ways: during The Elyria Salvation Army’s food pantry at 716 Broad Street, First Congregational Church’s Food Pantry at 330 2nd Street, and at The Elyria Arts Council at 336 Broad Street. The Elyria Arts council is currently not holding it’s Kid’s Art drop-in program due to concerns with Covid-19. This is typically a twice a month art project workshop for kids. A variety of projects are created during Kid’s Art Drop-in including painting, drawing, and pottery. The Art Packets are aimed to help assist for those who want to create Art and stay safe during this time.
