Marilyn grew up in Elyria, attended Elyria City Schools, and graduated from Elyria High School.  A music lover, Marilyn plays the piano.  She also is an avid gardener specializing in medicinal plants. Tucked in her English garden in Oberlin, are bird feeders which attract many birds native to this area.

Marilyn taught Decorative Painting at Lorain County Joint Vocational School for over nine years and continued to teach this art form for several additional years locally.  She taught in both oil and acrylic paints.

Marilyn paints animals and pet portraits. To create her oil paintings she uses photos she has taken herself and those given to her by customers for her commissions.  Marilyn likes the subject of her paintings to tell a story, contain humor, and depict beauty. She is able to capture the personalities of animals easily and it reflects in her work.

“After the virus”, Marilyn will gladly teach Decorative Painting at EAC.   She currently is accepting commissions while staying safe at home with her dog and cats.
